Pick Soubans is an award-winning Mauritian filmmaker, cinematographer and editor working across documentary, commercial film, visual effects, experimental image-making and new media.

Entirely self-taught, Pick began working professionally at sixteen and has spent the past decade building a practice across the Indian Ocean and internationally. His collaborations include PepsiCo, Steamroller Animations, and studios across Europe, and he became one of the youngest creatives in Mauritius to win multiple national and regional awards, with more than 25 distinctions to date, including Best Young Creative in the Indian Ocean from Union Francophone.

Alongside cinema, Pick has a strong interest in interactive audiovisual work, live light and music installations, modular sound, and real-time visual systems. His short documentary Terres Marronnes, created around Shakti Callikan’s ceramic research into Mauritian soil, has screened at international festivals and reflects a recurring thread in his work: stories rooted in memory, place, material and human connection.

Pick is currently based in Vancouver, where he was awarded a full tuition scholarship to study Film Production at Vancouver Film School.
